She received an MFA in Fine Arts from School of Visual Arts in 2006, and a BA in Middle Eastern Languages and Cultures from Columbia in 1992. The week of 9/11, she resigned from a legal position to focus on her art. She attended Skowhegan School of Painting and Sculpture on a partial fellowship and the Jentel Artist Residency Program in Banner, Wyoming.
